Dr Dragan Vasic completes the College of Phlebology HIFU Echotherapy course for treating varicose veins with Prof Mark Whiteley - 16 September 2019

Echotherapy treatment of varicose veins using HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a brand-new treatment. Unlike endovenous radiofrequency ablation or endovenous laser ablation, HIFU Echotherapy treatment is non-invasive. The first course in the world on this new technique has been organised by the College of Phlebology. Prof Mark Whiteley, founder of the College of Phlebology, is currently the only person in the world offering Echotherapy for the treatment of varicose veins. Today, 16 September 2019, Dr. Dragan Vasic successfully completed the course.

Echotherapy HIFU course for treating varicose veins

The Echotherapy HIFU course for treating varicose veins is run at The Whiteley Clinic in Bond Street, London. The course covers:

  • how HIFU works

  • the difference between HIFU for varicose veins and HIFU used elsewhere in the body

  • familiarisation with the Sonovein Echotherapy HIFU machine

  • how to set up and run the machine

  • strategy for treating patients (who is suitable and who is not suitable)

  • live cases of Echotherapy HIFU treatment of varicose veins

The College of Phlebology

The College of Phlebology was set up with the aim to educate both healthcare professionals as well as patients in venous diseases. Recently, the College has set up an international venous registry. All members of the College of Phlebology can use this registry. Over the years, feedback from both doctors as well as patients will ensure that this registry answers which treatments and doctors are giving the best results (https://www.collegeofphlebology.com/college-of-phlebology-venous-registry/). In addition, the College of Phlebology is running an international conference in London on 16-17th April next year where live cases of Echotherapy (HIFU) treatment of varicose veins will be demonstrated amongst other endovenous techniques.
