Dr Cesar Garcia-Madrid and Prof Mark Whiteley on HIFU Echotherapy course treating varicose veins using Sonovein 10 Oct 2019

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Cesar Garcia-Madrid from Barcelona. Dr. Garcia-Madrid came to learn the new HIFU Echotherapy treatment of varicose veins using the Sonovein machine. Two patients were treated. The first had varicose veins due to reflux in the great saphenous vein and anterior accessory saphenous vein. The second had varicose veins from incompetent perforators. The non-invasive HIFU machine uses High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound to treat the underlying varicose veins. Echotherapy is completely non-invasive with the machine being external. Local anaesthetic is injected if needed around the target vein using a tiny needle. This is the only non-invasive part of the procedure. One of the patients had HIFU Echotherapy alone. The second had foam sclerotherapy at the same time, completing all of the vein treatment in one session. Dr. Garcia-Madrid is now the third doctor to come to The Whiteley Clinic to learn HIFU Echotherapy treatment of varicose veins.
