Emma, age 35 years, asked when she should have her varicose veins treated – now or when she is older.
“Age is irrelevant as far as varicose veins are concerned.
What is important is to treat varicose veins as soon as you see that they are apparent and starting to become symptomatic.
I’ve had a patient aged 12 years and many of 15 to 16 years with severe varicose veins.
Once you have severe varicose veins, or varicose veins that you can see and you are getting symptoms from them, then they should be treated.
They will only deteriorate and cause more damage if you leave them longer. There is no advantage to leave varicose veins any longer; especially now the new techniques we use at The Whiteley Clinic are so successful.”
