This last week and weekend has been full of teaching EVLT for varicose veins to doctors from around the world. EVLT stands for “Endovenous Laser Therapy” and is the recommended way to treat varicose veins by NICE (National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence). Professor Mark Whiteley of The Whiteley Clinic is a recognised world leader in this, and in other endovenous treatments for varicose veins and leg ulcers.

This 2 day course for teaching EVLT for varicose veins comprises of a day of lectures and a day of practicals. During the lectures, Prof Mark Whiteley and his team explain the latest research about varicose veins and how they are best investigated and treated.

On the second day, Prof Mark Whiteley and his team operate live in The Whiteley Clinic demonstrating the techniques via video link with the delegates. During the workshop phase, delegates practice with EVLT on latex models of legs and veins.

This international conference for interventional radiologists is held each year. Prof Mark Whiteley ran a parallel session teaching EVLT for varicose veins. This one hour session was repeated during the afternoon session.
