The Whiteley Clinic Stakes 2016 was run on Saturday 27th August. This is the 8th year that this race has been sponsored by The Whiteley Clinic. As each year, the race was run at Goodwood.
In addition, the Absolute Aesthetics Maiden Fillies’ Stakes 2016 was on the same card. This is the 3rd year that this race has been run.
The Whiteley Clinic Stakes 2016 itself was very close and exciting. In a tight finish, the winner was number 7, Quebee. Jockey Martin Harvey rode the winner.
The Whiteley Clinic Stakes Handicap Goodwood Aug 2016 – Won by Quebee
Every year, a group of special guests are invited to the races by The Whiteley Clinic and Absolute Aesthetics.
The hospitality is held in the Charlton Suites, part of the Richmond Enclosure. The guests started eating and drinking in the suite, and then joined Mark Whiteley and Vicki Smith in the parade ring to choose the best turned out horse.
The groom was presented with the prize, and then the guests were invited to join the hosts in a box which overlooked the finish line. In this box, a champagne reception was held whilst the horses were put into the stalls, ready for the off.
The race itself was fast and furious. With just over half a furlong to go, Dawn Mirage seemed to be winning.
However, Quebee finished very strongly, winning the The Whiteley Clinic Stakes 2016.
Prof Mark Whiteley (The Whiteley Clinic) accompanied by Miss Vicki Smith (Absolute Aesthetics), presented the owner with a trophy, and both trainer and jockey with champagne.
All guests had a great experience at Goodwood races. We look forwards to entertaining again next year 🙂
