The Whiteley Clinic featured on ‘Don’t Tell The Doctor’

This week on TV’s ‘Don’t Tell the Doctor’, a patient with varicose veins is treated at The Whiteley Clinic.

The female patient presents with varicose veins of the legs. ‘Don’t Tell the Doctor’ brought her to The Whiteley Clinic, a private medical facility specialising in the treatment of varicose veins and other venous conditions.

The TV show followed her through the process of getting rid of her varicose veins, using The Whiteley Protocol®. By following this protocol, we make sure that we identify and correct not just the surface veins, but also the underlying problems.

She followed the patient pathway, which includes:

• Consultation and Examination
  Professor Mark Whiteley examines the patient. He explains what varicose veins are and what causes them.
• Diagnosis – inclusing Venous Duplex Ultrasound Scanning
  Tim Fernandez-Hart of The Whiteley Clinic performed the scan to show exactly where the underlying problems lie.
• Planning the varicose veins treatment and consent
  Mark Whiteley goes through the scan results and they discussed her treatment options.
• Varicose veins operation
  The varicose veins operation was performed under local anaesthetic at The Whiteley Clinic and is recorded for TV.
• Follow-up
  The patient returned for her follow up and to discuss the results from her treatment.
